The evolution of Snapchat

In the age of constant updates, it is possible that no other social networking application has changed as much as Snapchat. Oh Snapchat, in you we trust. We document our lives constantly, feel excessive FOMO and do ridiculous stunts "for the story".
The latest updates to Snapchat may be the most shocking yet. Literally shocking- like this morning when I opened up a Snap from a friend and she was depicted as a screaming zombie. Snapchat has changed the game this time.
2013 left us in disbelief when Snapchat allowed users to "replay" one snap per day. Then came geofilters so we could more effectively tell our followers how awesome our lives were- "This is me in Manhattan. You know how I can prove I'm in Manhattan? Check our my geofilter!" What more can we ask for?!
In the past few days, Snapchat has released a new update including "lenses". Like before, when I mentioned my friend was a zombie this morning according to her snap, this is the newest feature we never knew we needed. Snapchat can now change your selfie into a rosy-cheeked girl vomiting rainbows or an old man with wrinkles and a monocle. Why? Who knows. But with every update, Snapchat has become more and more successful. This one probably won't be any different.
Whenever we talk about Snapchat, it is important to also mention the "why". Why are we snapchatting? Do we think what we are doing is THAT cool that 70 of our closest friends need to see it instantly? Or is Snapchat becoming the newest "humblebrag"? (Humblebrag definition according to Urban Dictionary: "Subtly letting others now about how fantastic your life is while undercutting it with a bit of self-effacing humor or "woe is me" gloss. Uggggh just ate about fifteen pieces of chocolate gotta learn to control myself when flying first class or they'll cancel my modeling contract LOL :p #humblebrag"). Just a note for future reference, don't Snapchat unless what you are doing is WORTH the snap. Don't be a humblebragger!
